Forecasts say more than one million drones will be sold in the US during the upcoming holiday season alone. In fact drones have become so widespread that regulatory bodies around the world are worried about the threat they may pose. Just yesterday, for instance, the FAA issued new regulations on using and registering UAVs.
Personally, I am very excited about drones – almost as much as autonomous cars. Reason is, sooner rather than later these drones will be flying solo, without human intervention. That calls for some heavy computer vision algorithms, combined with high-precision positioning and advanced communication technologies; everything that CEVA is well-known for. My main hope is that the regulators will not undermine the adoption of drones and the continued innovation they are enabling.
